I was very eager to get the other Wichita, KS FKT under my belt, maybe too eager. I went in early May when the long grass was LONG and thick already. To make matters worse, I went after my work day, starting the run at the hottest point of the day and not finishing until after the sun had set, so of course I rolled my ankle a bunch near the end on the uneven ground. All in all, a pretty miserable experience, but was happy to get the time pretty comfortably.
I went alone and used my "ultra pack" with 2 500 mL bottles and an additional 2L bladder. My bladder leaked the whole way and I ran out of water with about 8 miles left which added to the suck. I carried and ate 2 honey stinger waffles, a couple salt tablets, and several Gu energy gels.
Glad to get this one out of the way and lets just say I hope it sticks for a while so I don't have to go back out there.
