Oyster Dome is always humbling! I've gone for the uphill segment several times but never the up and down so this was a good challenge. I was hoping to improve upon my uphill time here so ran the ascent hard; it was daunting to summit and then immediately turn around with jelly legs! I hit the top in 34:40 (per the "Oyster Dome-New trail route" segment and then did my best to send it on the way down. The Out-and-back segment shows 1:01:18.
I ran one mile up the trail and one mile back down with my husband as a warm-up and then we each went for own efforts, me starting a minute behind him. A fair number of people out on the trail and humid, though not hot, conditions. I took a gel and some water before I started but didn't bring anything with me.
