There are two FKTs on Misti and I decided to go for this one as I am unfamiliar with the mountain and it looks like there are many ways one can tackle it. This is certainly the case as much of the uphill is through loose scree and rock and it is somewhat difficult to know where you are. Unforuntately for my effort I was dropped off in town which added about 8km to the route (which starts close to the former trailhead parking) and some gain but, other than that, it was a beautiful day for a slog.
The silver lining of the route is that 75% of the route down is a scree ski. This is rapid and pleasant though you will absolutely want some gaiters - which I didn't have. Zero water available anywhere on this route and if you catch it right, you are over 5,800m in shorts.
