This was hard...
I knew it would be, but it isn't very often that the sound of self-doubt plays so loud.
Kicked off with the first ferry out of Circular Quay. We had planned for me to run from Newcastle to Sydney, but changed this the day prior as the temperature out of Newcastle on the Friday was around 31c.
Day one was hot. I do not usually have any issues with cramping, but the heat and hills sure had me in a bit of a mess. The water taxi to Patonga was an interesting experience, and was welcomed into Patonga by the crew who had cooked up a pretty amazing spaghetti.
Day two went better, i was actually happy for some of the flat road sections, where i could swap out the trails shoes for the road and get some momentum. The rain showers provided some well needed refreshment before powering into the 2nd night.
Early morning day 3..... Not sure how the guys managed to get me to the end.
Throwing up and very little food intake.
I was happy to get off the beach and make that long climb up that little hill.
The downhill to the wharf went too quick and then we were done.
Shout out to Burt Kennedy - a great friend who helped me plan, paced and crewed this adventure.
To Hayden, Mack, Jess, Amy, Martina & Brad, thank you for giving up your time, sleep and sanity to assist with this. A thousand thanks!
