Official route from wikipedia...Highway 3, Oldcastle Ontario to Essex County Road 34, Leamington Ontario(Ruthven). Flat and fast rail trail. Route is 42 km and I did it as an out and back. So 84 km total.
Trip Report: This trail is very close to my house and I run it all the time. But I've never done the whole thing, let alone an out and back. I started very early Saturday morning. 26 minutes after midnight to be exact. Thursday night I stashed water at a few different spots along the route so I could complete the 84km self supported. There's not too many stories from this fkt really. I was moving pretty well early on. The weather was pretty much perfect. There was some rain, but not enough to affect anything. I made it to Ruthven(halfway point) while it was still dark out. I filled up my bottles there. I was definitely looking forward to the sun coming up. I only saw 3 people the whole time I was out there! I was getting a little tired the latter part of the run. I was trying not to extend my walking breaks too long though. It felt good to finish. My drive home was 10 minutes so that was nice. I definitely needed a little nap. We are really lucky to have this trail! I rarely ever step foot on the roads. On to the next one...
