This was a lovely route with a mix of fields, moors (including plenty of boggy ground!), trail paths and tarmac, with stunning Northumberland views adding a little of the Pennine Way. The weather was fairly kind -- perhaps a touch warm and quite windy but can't complain. I filled up on water (with energy powder) at a river about 15 miles in, and otherwise added gels to fuel. Legs felt heavy to begin but eventually got moving for a good steady pace.
