Started around 7:45 am with a vest with 1.5 liters of water and a handful of gels. Got aid at Gloucester Gap, the parkway, and black balsalm from Shiloh Mielke and Ashley Hunter Arnold. Had great weather with icing and frost at the top but wasn't too slippery. Some minor sleeting but never really got going. No wrong turns and everything basically went great. Definitely helps to be familiar with turns because most aren't marked and knowing the way without having to check the phone is convenient but still checked it once or twice in the black balsalm knob area. The navigating is half the challenge. Tried to stay conservative till I got through the rough section in the narrows and then pushed the rocky descent. Had one wipeout on the downhill but no real injuries other than a scraped cheek.
