Started at Breakneck Hill Road and headed SW into the newest section of trail. First mile slow going as I didn't know the route and it's not that established compared to the rest of the trail. Actually went past the southern terminus as I saw more blue blazes and continued on fire a little bit on Nehantic Trail (all the trails are blue blazed!).

Unlike the completely dry trail sections that I ran on in the Pachaug Half Marathon in November, there were long sections of Jeep road where you were just running through streams. My dog Brady seemed to enjoy it and was sprinting through the water (even 15 miles in!), But for me, it got old and cold quickly. One knee-deep swollen river crossing.

The northernmost couple of miles, as well as some middle miles, feature some fun single-track, but overall there's also a lot of rutted, loose rock sections. Final mile was a tough uphill slog through constant streams and loose rocks.
