A chilly start, followed by some unexpected snowy miles, and finished off with some serious heat...the Los Padres National Forest has always delivered the adventure and mettle test I’ve yearned for, be it on two feet or two wheels, over the last decade of my life in Santa Barbara. It’s been a critical part of making me the endurance athlete I am today so for that I’m eternally grateful for access to our remarkable public lands, and will continue to come back for more. Today was no different: completely wild, awe inspiring, and a unique experience to add to the memory bank. Did a bundle of things right & identified a few slight mistakes to improve upon next time out...My longest unsupported run to date was an overall success and ended with new a LP Traverse unsupported Fastest Known Time: 5:56:22. Zero stop time, 1 baby bobcat, 10 Spring Energy, 128 oz of electrolytes, 41 miles, 5.2k climb, 7.5k descent. Mostly a steady effort with a bit of suffering in the last hour!
