The idea to complete the GR54 was born because the trail is passes right in front of the door. ThE adventure was completed with the help of my coach and others friends from “Les 2 Alpes Trail” association.
After having the confirmation few days before that the trails were clear from snow I decided to take the standard route of the GR54.
The start was at 2.45am in Bourg d’Oisans and came back to this point after 46h58min.
The first day and up to Vallouise trails were clean and smooth. Only the heat was difficult to deal with.
During the night some sections close to l’Aup Martin were super technical/destroyed by the last winter, sometime almost not existing at all. The energy came back when the sun rise and I continued my adventure with the friends all day long.
I finally reach the 14th and last summit before the fall of the night and arrived in Bourg d’Oisans to join all my crew and celebrate it with pizza at the finish line!
The adventure was epic since it was a triple challenge for me:
- First time doing more than 100km (according to the GPX, I did 195km)
- First time exceeding 30h
- First time exceeding 6000m of elevation gain (according to the GPX, I did 12230m)
Overall, it was a success and good achievement for me allowing me to continue on my personal plans.
