I've wanted to run 100 miles around Town Lake for the past five years. I ended up moving from Austin to Denver in 2021 without getting to attempt it. I was finally ready to put the plan in motion this year! My goal was to complete ten laps or 100 miles, but also strive to get the female FKT record for the standing Town Lake 24 Hour Challenge that was set in 2022. I had two aid stations along the 10 mile loop - one mobile station at the west side of Mopac Bridge for water and first aid and one main station on the east side near Kreig Fields for hydration, refueling, and first aid. These aid stations I started at 5am under Mopac Bridge on Saturday 6/14/25. As a former run group leader in the Austin running community, I had a lot of my former run club members and friends join me for small segments of each loop which was the exact celebration of this iconic running loop in the city that I wanted! This run was to pay homage to what the Town Lake trail and Austin running community provided to me and so many others over the years. The humidity and heat start to creep in mid-day and foot issues started to slow me down. I thought I was still tough enough for it, having been born and raised in Texas! But my past four years in Denver's dry climate proved otherwise. I developed significant blisters by mile 75 and after stopping at my east side aid station to tape them up, I decided to continue towards my 24 hour goal. I reached mile 81 at 24 hours! The remaining 20 miles were a slow and painful walk/shuffle towards my larger goal of 100 miles. I reached the 100 miles in 31 hours and 7 minutes the next afternoon, Sunday 6/15. I'm stoked to be the only known female to run 100 miles around Town Lake and also submit this FKT attempt to for the female record of 24 hours around Town Lake!
