I started at the Northwestern end of the Rock Island Trail in Toulon, Illinois. Overall it went good, it was a beautiful day and the weather was nice. It was a little bit windy but I didn’t notice it much as the trees blocked a lot of the wind. I carried a 2L Camelbak with Gatorade and other electrolyte mix. I also carried a fanny pack with snacks and gels. There were multiple water spigots throughout the beginning trail although I didn’t stop at the ones in the beginning because I didn’t need water at that moment. I did run out of water in mile 18 but at that point I honestly wasn’t concerned about dehydration. I did stop for water at the public drinking fountain near the parking lot at the end of the trail. This was right around mile 25.  After that I went ahead and just ran 26.2 miles for fun, as I was already so close to the marathon distance and it still fit under the current FKT time. I did not run with anyone.
