I started at the Old Reedy Creek entrance with my friend Heather, and we headed to the Harrison entrance of Umstead. We ran to the entrance, made a quick stop at the bathroom and then do the Company Mill, Inspiration Trail and Company Mill Spur (Heather ran about 12 miles with me). Once I was done, I had two other friends meet me and they gave me some water and a bagel. After that I headed on the Loblolly trail. Once I finished Loblolly I did the portion of S. Turkey that I had missed, and then continued on S. Turkey to N. Turkey and had another friend who gave me some chicken nuggets, fries and soda at the Graylyn Gate. After that I headed to the Sycamore trail, and made it to the parking lot by Sal's Branch where I met Wes. He joined me to do Sal's Branch and the Campground Spur. I did get slightly lost on Sal's Branch due to a social trail, but luckily figured out that we went the wrong way and got back on trail in the correct spot. After that I did Oak Rock Trail and Pott's Branch trail and my friend Jen brought me the greatest mashed potatoes ever. After that I took Sycamore Trail to Sycamore Rd. to finish the Graylyn MUT, where my friend Lauren walked a mile with me and left me at the log. After that I finished Graylyn and went to my last trail which was Cedar Ridge where the water in the stream felt amazing on my feet and wasted a couple minutes of time, but worth it. Then my partner Wes picked me up since my car was at the other entrance.
It was a great day and I felt pretty good overall, I fell once on Pott's Branch, but luckily it was towards the end and I was able to hobble the rest of the way. I also noticed my Garmin has me 1 second faster than Strava so I provided both links! I'm so excited to be the first female to do this and it was the best day. The weather was truly perfect and I couldn't ask for a better support crew.
