FKT: Jim Courville - Pico del Fraile - 2022-12-27

This was a summit hike/run up to Pico del Fraile in nevado de Toluca Mexico. Solo trip from CDMX. Fun, after you get past the lagunas and mob of tourists there. Felt very alpine with the loose scree and class 3-5 scrambles, reminded me of my home mountains in the Whites of NH. Fresh snow overnight made it more interesting. I was first on day to summit after passing two hikers just below the summit.  Several false summits lied in waiting for me. Weather was not too cold, between 25-30 with a strong wind and plenty of clouds and fresh snow. In terms of food and water.  I drank two liters in total, one bottle of electrolyte mix and one pack of Skratch Labs chews. This FKT will not stand for long, but I wanted to get the route published. Easily done in 90-120 mins with no snow. FYI Garmin does not have a map of this on their GPS, I used GAIA as trail map reassurance, following the yellow dots, and used both Garmin and GAIA to confirm the summit.
