The Cabot Trail (it's a paved road, NOT a trail at all) is one of the most scenic drives in Canada...and no one had run this loop before. This was a fundraiser for a Cape Breton family who, through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, hoped that they would get to take their youngest child to Disney after battling (and surviving!) cancer for 4+ years!! We luckily got to meet this amazing family when I had ~35kms to go, so that was the icing on the cake for this jaunt. To make that icing even sweeter, they surprised us by showing up at my start/finish point (The Red Barn - roughly 9kms south of Baddeck on Hwy 105) after 44h00m02s!
The journey started at The Red Barn on Friday June 26, 2020 at 2:00am AST and finished at 10:00:02pm AST on June 27, 2020. The entire run was very well documented by Clothesline Media and will air on CBC in the fall of 2021.
