This is meant to be a 2 day climb but I was acclimated up to 3900m from climbing Tochal in Iran 5 days earlier so I decided to do it in one day. The route starts relatively easy with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. They are very sharp and steep. The path is quite rocky at the start but not too technical and then opens up into the mountain fields and also requires some walking over large snow fields. I only wore my La Sportixa TX4 approach shoes with no crampons and it was slow going and fell a number of times because of the slippery snow and ice. After the snow fields its a loose rock scree ascent to the summit but manageable if you stick to the right hand side where there are some nice rocks.
I only saw a handful of people on the route until I got near the summit as people were moving very slowly. There was about 30 people on the summit when I arrived as they had stayed in a camp halfway up the mountain and left early. People were very friendly and everyone wanted to take a picture with me as I was likely the only tourist on the mountain (and maybe for quite some time as it is Iran after all).
The descent was quite quick down the scree slope if you are comfortable power sliding down. The snow fields are very slow going and I once again slipped a few times, once banging the back of my head hard on the ice. I jogged down the fields and I was quite happy with my time overall.
There were spots to fill up a water bottle near the snow fields and near the camp but I just brought my own and also 2 sandwiches.
A must do for any mountaineer in Iran. It's the second highest mountain in the country and a lot less people than on Damavand due to its remoteness but I enjoyed this one a lot more.
