I have done around 75 FKT routes in the U.S., and this one is the most difficult to navigate! I did enjoy the route. It is beautiful and peaceful in the woods. However, heads up, it'll be a lot slower than you were expecting, whatever your pace normally is. At this time of year, there is an enormous number of fallen leaves which obscured the trail, completely in some places. Also, many downed trees and branches are blocking the route, that are difficult to get through. I never felt like I could completely open it up on this trail. You definitely need to have the course on your phone or watch, and be vigilant in looking for the blue blazes on the trees, which are sometimes difficult to spot.
Similar to other Tennessee State Parks, there is a visitor's center with a small souvenir shop and a flush toilet.
I did see a couple of deer and an opossum during the "run." You do pass by the Tennessee River about 100 yards away. Otherwise, there are no water sources out there that I could see. I did not carry or need fluid or nutrition. Have fun!
