Started off feeling really strong, got 1.4 mi in and realized I hadn't actually started my watch. I almost called it off then, but by the time I had jogged back to the start I decided to go anyways. I probably lost a minute or two on my final time, but that just means I can definitely do it faster in the future.
I haven't yet fully readjusted to running in the SE; the spiderwebs, humidity, dew, and overgrown thorns were very frustrating. But it was a pleasant temperature and the trails were easier to run on than what I'm used to. I didn't go quite as hard on the climbs as I could have wished, but I flew on the descent. I took a hard fall a couple miles out from the finish, but the ground was soft and I got right back up and kept going. I landed on a good sized stick and snapped it in two, making a loud cracking noise, so I was briefly concerned that I had broken something.
I've always thought of Big Frog Mtn as The Mountain of the area, so I'm glad I could make an FKT for it.
