Turned our longstanding sibling rivalry for fastest ascent of Mt. Major into a combined effort to get an up and down FKT together. Had to take the official short detour while the bottom of the main trail is under construction and start as close to the map as we could given the closed parking lot, but the distance and vert appear to be the same as previous attempts. There was an unusually large number of people on the trail for 6am due to the holiday, but it was a beautiful morning and the trail is in great shape. Only took one tumble each.
