I dropped my car off at the trailhead of Peekamoose and rode my bike to Moonhaw road. I started at 6:34am.
The ascent from Moonhaw was going well. I planned on only doing a hard push up and then cruise the rest of the day. Unfortunately, after the “T” junction for Friday and Balsam cap I took the wrong herd path to the top and got stuck on a cliff face just below Friday summit. My 49 minute ascent to Friday was foiled. I was too stubborn to turn around and pushed up the cliff and through thick pine. After that, I took the wrong herd path again, this time heading away from the canister. I lost about 10 minutes stomping around the top of Friday.
After the shenanigans of Friday, the rest of the day went smooth. I took the rest of the run easy and signed all the canisters along the way. I lost the herd path maybe two or three times between Balsam and Rocky, but quickly regained the trail.
I summited Lone and made it to Table with no difficulty. At the top of Peekamoose, I re-laced my shoes for the fun descent. I hadn’t seen any hikers all day until now, maybe 10 or 12 on the descent. As well as some trail maintainers, Thank you!!! They all gave way to the idiot in short shorts which was much appreciated.
All in all, an amazing day on the trails. I carried 1.2 liters of water mixed with high carb Skratch and electrolytes. This route has the potential to go down in time way further than this.
