Fun morning on a route close to home. I’ve traveled along the Grand Hogback on I-70 many times, it’s a beautiful geological feature.
An interesting aspect of the Hogback are the coal seams that are continuously burning underground; on this route you run right next to one that is visibly smoldering in South Canyon. Not only did the ocean that covered Colorado millions of years ago create the Hogback but left marine material that eventually turned into oil, gas, coal.
Happy to explore this area, views all around were awesome.
