Ran on a day off work to celebrate the slow ending of lockdown. Hadn't been on any of the trails before but in previous years have spent a lot of time on the rocks at Bowels and Harrisons - was a little bit of a shame to fly by them but needed to be back to do the nursery run. Carried standard race mandatory kit with 2 litres of water, a couple of packets of cliff blocks and oats / banana for breakfast. Was planning on filling up with water at Harrisons car park but the water fountain outside was broken and there was only hot available in the loos, horrible! Forced down half a litre but had to fight off cramp for the last few km and the walk back to Tonbridge train station and a coke felt really long! Weather was superb, trails were excellent and scenery beautiful. Felt a little trespassy around the posh school near the start and around Groombridge Place but the public footpaths are all well marked. Did get lost coming out of Groombridge and added on a km or so, plus a hedge and a couple of barbed wire fences. Was a little disheartened after that and it felt like it was up hill all the way back and that there was a style to cross about every 100m!
