This trail run/climbing mission links up three of the classic moderate routes on Cannon: Lakeview (5.6, 8 pitches), Moby Grape (5.8, 7 pitches), and Whitney Gilman (5.7, 6 pitches).

A week prior I climbed the Whitney Gilman in under an hour and felt pretty fit, so I decided to give this Cannon linkup a shot. I had completed this on a couple of other occasions but never with a gps track. Many years ago I remembered getting close to the 3hr mark, but could not remember my exact time.

Running and hiking up the Lakeview approach trail went smoothly and I was starting up the route around 15 minutes in. I topped out the route in just over 30 minutes. The route was still wet from, rain earlier that day, so navigating the wet slabs went a bit slower than anticipated. I ran down the "escape hatch", a fast descent option off the cliff and made it to the base of Moby Grape under the 1 hour mark. I knew I was slightly under my goal pace as I started up Reppy's crack. The jams felt solid and before long I was standing at the base of the triangle roof pitch. With Moby Grape being steeper, the rock was drier than Lakeview and I was able to make up some ground. I passed the triangle roof, I took a deep breath and tried to crank out the rest of the moderate climbing. The top pitches went really smoothly and I was standing on top of the route exactly at the 1.5 hour mark.

I retraced my steps from earlier and traversed the base of the entire cliff to the start of the WG. I knew I had this in the bag as long as I did not make any egregious errors. I have climbed the WG solo over 30 times now, so the route went fast and I was standing on top and switched into my running shoes before I ran down the descent route and was pleased when I made it back to the parking lot. In the end, everything felt really smooth. It being an over cast day with rain earlier in the day, I had the entire cliff to myself. It is always a special day to climb these special routes on Cannon.
