The Waterloo-Pinckney Trail is one of three trails designated as a “triple crown” of Michigan FKTs by the Michigan Ultra Runners (along with the Manistee River Trail and Pictured Rocks Lakeshore Trail). Garmin shorted me 1.5 miles as actual distance is just over 35 miles. I felt like absolute garbage all day. Did what I needed to do to get the record (5:39, old record was 6:02) but need a few days off. Ran at easy controlled pace all day and shouldn’t have felt that sore or stiff the last 15 miles. The miles of sand in the middle will be great training for the Zion Traverse FKT in October. Overall I’m always happy to achieve my goal and that’s my 10th speed record this year (9th FKT where I’ve broken an existing record, 3 more than anyone in a calendar year ever) but I’m a little irritated it felt so poor and that I now have to take 3-4 days off or easy to recover. Oh well, that’s life when your livin’ your best life :-) Trail was super overgrown in the middle and I def got poison ivy ?‍♂️ (worth it)
