I started the Maricopa Trail From Pima Canyon, but unlike my previous attempt I went counter clockwise. Since this was an unsupported attempt, I went with more of a fast pack approach. Due to the weight of my gear I ultimately hiked a very large majority of the route and made up for it by sleeping very little. That may not have been the best approach as the last 20 miles may have been the most lost I have ever been on a trail, and it's one of my favorites and know it well. Ultimately this proved to be a very challenging route due to the long spells with out water and the hotter than average temperature.
I started this attempt 30 days prior but failed at mile 93. Looking back it was needed, taught me what I needed to know to make this attempt successful.
