Ran this the day Eliud ran his Sub 2 marathon, felt inspired, and also had the day off work! Had no idea FKT existed at the time, so took it incredibly leisurely. No one ran with me for any distance, although I did beat 3 old guys on bikes who were doing the canal that day. They seemed a bit shocked to see me running past them 6 hours later !!! Food and water = mainly twix bars because lets be honest, they're absolutely the best chocolate out there. In all seriousness, stocked up with food at the Tesco in Linlithgow (counted into the total time obviously) forgot to take my ID though didn't I, so no Red Bull for me, instead had to cope with Lucozade (the non-alcohol equivalent of piss).
Saw someone had the supported FKT and thought I'd grab the self-supported FKT for the lols, before someone does it inevitably 5 hours quicker than I did at some point in the not too distant future.
Jolly good fun all round, had a meal in the Canal end in Edinburgh afterwards, although the waiter wouldn't believe I'd just run in from Falkirk :(, ah well, you can't win all your battles eh
