After a late start (due to a delayed train and a missed bus), I set off from Chipping Campden just after 11am on a beautiful sunny morning! Despite a rainy weather forecast, it was a roasting day, so I spent the first 13h flirting with dehydration, but luckily I was carrying a lot of water and there were a couple of streams and a public toilet to fill bottles in! The lovely weather meant delightful views, and I had a wonderful time on the gently rolling hills throughout the afternoon and evening. Around halfway through in Stonehouse I started to get a bit tired, and spent a while collapsed on the pavement attempting to eat a sandwich. In the early hours I was definitely feeling sleepy, and the chafing from my running pack was getting a bit sore. An encounter with a couple of badgers cheered me up though! Having never run 100 miles before, I wasn't really sure what to expect, but sure enough as the sun rose I got that second kick of energy, and it turned out to be another gorgeous day! Although my legs were definitely tired and a lot of time was spent walking that morning, by that point I'd given up on any time aspirations and just enjoyed the sun all the way into Bath!
