Day one hit with 85 degrees and full sun, and day two followed with thick humidity and steady rain. The contrast made every mile feel different, and none of them felt easy.
The course starts out deceptively flat, so the elevation on day two caught me off guard. Traffic was a challenge in several sections, making it tough to meet up with my two‑person support crew — but we problem‑solved, adapted, and made it work. Running across an entire state means seeing its beauty up close, and Connecticut delivered. But it also meant passing straight through some tough cities in the middle of the night, which added a layer of real fear. I carried mace at times. Hartford and Bridgeport at 1 AM are no joke. At one point, we were nearly bitten by a dog. There were definitely some sketchy moments.
And somehow, despite all of that, it was also a heck of a lot of fun.
We felt the support. We kept moving. And we tried as much Connecticut pizza as humanly possible.
