it's been a wet and hot summer in the northeast - a small window of cooler/drier conditions appeared so i made the most of it and headed up to the catskills to revisit a classic route. started just after dawn with crisp 45 degree temps - in the afternoon things got a bit warmer - 65 or so - and a bit more humid, but hard to beat that weather this time of year. trail conditions were mixed - most of the rocks were dry, but there were more muddy bogs than normal and wet/muddy shoes are a hazard even if the rocks are dry. i didn't push too hard on the technical downhills and luckily didn't have any major falls. there was plenty of water to filter along the trail so i never had to carry more than 1L at a time.
the devil's path has been getting more attention recently so i hope it won't be long until this record goes down!
