ran unsupported, started with 3L of tailwind and then refilled several times on the way.

started off Shepard Ave in Hamden. having run the Q before i thought that would be an ideal spot to front-load the more technical parts of the run (sleeping giant, regicides trail) since those are the places i've fallen before. guess that worked but turns out the upper part of the Q is harder than i remembered - didn't fall but it's hard to fall when you are going 2mph!

also i planned ahead and picked a day when it hadn't rained for a while - running on the slippery rocks a few weeks prior was not ideal. well it also turns out the regicides trail is on a ridge and all water spots i recalled from prior trips had dried up, and i didn't fill up earlier. that was a bad move, i was pretty dehydrated coming out of the regicides, finally refilled in mostly dried out stream that i missed on the way in. it took several hours to recover from that so the trip north on the Q really dragged.

the weather was great and eventually i got rehydrated and the sun started to go down and the final 8 miles or so felt very pleasant in comparison. and having the last couple miles be non-technical and downhill was a great way to end the day.

note on the gpx - it was a pretty clean run, i only got lost once in sleeping giant on the way back. quite a bit of tracking error in some spots though so might be annoying to use it to track your run (will tell you off course when you aren't).
