I had been curious to try this one for a couple of years now. It's right in my backyard and on Saturday the stars aligned so I set out into the fog aroung 5:10am Saturday morning.
The AT in NJ is a mix of technical and smooth rolling trails, giving you enough to keep you from getting bored. It's easy to get lost in a flow state.
Buttermilk Falls Descent - SO fun. Steep, sketchy at times and had me feeling like I was in New Hampshire.
The rest of the return trip was pretty uneventful, I started seeing some more people after hitting the return visit to the pile of rocks.
Hit Sunfish Pond and dropped a proper finish to the parking lot like they do in Helsinki.
Kudos to Stephen for starting this, I hope more will tackle this fun and accessible out and back!
