Midwinter Dartmoor 500s, solo and unsupported. A proper type 2 fun day out 😅

It’s been on my mind for a few years. Thanks to everyone who joined me for numerous recces and everyone else who has put up with me talking about it!Â
I wanted to do it in summer 2024 but didn’t find an opportunity. I aimed again for spring this year, but an injury wiped that out.Â
I was too impatient to wait another year, so I set my sights on a winter round.Â
Half of it was in the dark, and foggy for the rest. I could hardly see any of the tors until I walked into them. I prepared a GPX file from previous recces but I used map and compass for parts of the route.Â
Ridiculously wet under (over) foot with some exciting river crossings. The moor was saturated but the rivers had dropped just enough to find safe places to wade across. No issues finding drinking water though!Â
Loved every minute of it, well, nearly all of it. Pleased to complete a round just before Christmas.Â
