Belated submission: it was a beautiful day running between Boulder and Escalante UT, temperatures were hotter than would have been ideal as this was a bit of an impulsive adventure (high 80's but felt hotter) and it was a mental challenge to leave the cool refuge of the Escalante river. This was my second time on this route and my memory of the course was extremely helpful to navigate through the slickrock cairns and know to keep an eye on the old telegraph wire as the trail always stays close to that landmark. I carried a water filter and should have filtered before leaving the river but I was too busy hyping myself up to climb out. It was as expected: gorgeous views, tenuous slickrock and some truly stunning miles along the river bottom. The one downside was the vicious biting flies for the last two miles. Super hidden gem of a route!
