FKT: Kelly Halpin, Simon Mtuy - Mt Meru (Tanzania) - 2026-09-25

Piggybacking off our round trip report- Simon and I started at the trailhead with our ranger Dominic. We walked the first .6 of a mile through the lowlands eith him to not scare the buffalo. We started moving fast on the first uphill. Dominic stayed behind while we ascended. We refilled water at Miriakamba low camp and high camp and took a few minutes for snack breaks. We moved at a fun pace- not too hard with time for photos and snacks. We were in the clouds after Rhino Point. Actually really fun to be in the clouds and not be able to see the summit. Incredibly beautiful dramatic light on the ridge. We summited 5 hrs 33 min after starting.
