I really wanted to drop my time below 3 hours. Felt great on the effort- cool temps but also incredibly gusty winds. My sunglasses almost blew off my face near the summit. It was also a fairly quiet day on the mountain with only two parties above me. The rock fall danger is real on Teewinot so the less folks on route the better for a quick effort. I did car to summit in 1hr40min (5 min faster than my previous car to summit) and car to car in 2hr42 (20 min faster than my previous RT time). I'm sure I could run the downhill faster but, again, better to be cautious with the rock fall danger and, of course, better to be extra careful on the 5th class sections. I carried two flasks of electrolytes, two gels, my phone, and bear spray in a 2L BD vest. No ice tools were needed this late in the season. ** I always like to reiterate that Teewinot is a mountaineering route and it should not be attempted (especially fast) unless you have climbing knowledge and are familiar with the route. **
