Went for a fast go on Capitol Peak yesterday- I've been wanting to do this for 3 years, since I first went up the mountain! Alas my memory-beta was not the best for the route. Going up was mostly straightforward but going down I was definitely pretty wandery from the fastest line off the mountain (really from K2 til the saddle after the boulder field), much time could be made up here in the future. There was some snow from recent storms around K2 but everything else was mostly dry and it was a delightfully pretty quiet day out there with just a few folks out and no clouds. An acquaintance happened to be up there and snagged a pic or 2 of me at the top. I had 3 Spring Energy gels total (2x Awesome Sauce and 1x Hill Aid). To drink... I started with an empty bottle and forgot to fill up my filter while I was still amidst the creeks so I didnt have any water until coming down, back below the lake again (classic me). It was a bit chilly for the crispy September morning, starting around 7:45/8am. I tripped in the boulder field and got some good bloody flapper on my hand but for that to be the only carnage from the mountain I'll take it! Wore La Sportiva Cyklons which were awesome for the rock and snow grip. Very fun romp, unsupported, got back to the trailhead at 4:45:20, segment says 4:45.27. Cheers!
