Clockwise run around lake Winnebago using county highways and roads closest to the lake. Ran against traffic the entire time, but there were shoulders wide enough that I wasn't concerned for my safety as long as I was paying attention. I started at 5 am from Neenah pick N Save parking lot and ran north then east to High Cliff state park. I had my first crew with food and pacer there that ran with me for 1 hour to Stockbridge. When I made it to Fond Du lac I had another crew aid stop and a new pacer ran with me for 2 hours this time. Had some rain but it only lasted about 20 minutes total. Picked up my last crew aid and pacer in Oshkosh. Pacer stuck with me on and off for about 2 hours. Finished the last 10 miles with my training partner as crew at intersections. Crews resupplied me with water, McDs hamburgers and cokes when I needed them.
There are gas stations scattered on the route that you can used for food/drinks and bathrooms if needed. They are sparse though on the east and west side of the lake when you are not around any towns.
It is a fairly flat course as there is only 1312' of gain over the route. One major, but short hill going into High Cliff state park. Overall not a visually pleasing course, but it is the largest lake in Wisconsin and it has roads that give the ability to run around it. There is also a bike race called Race the Lake that uses this course (plus some added mileage) that ranges from 85-100 miles depending on the route for that year.
I'm glad I did this as I grew up in the area. Would not do again, 73 miles on concrete hurts.
