Report

The sun soaked trails of the Mullertal in Luxemburg delivered to their reputation. The wonderful rock formations are alternated by open fields and nicely runnable forest tracks. Most steep climbs are foreseen of wooden 'stairs', making them much easier to tackle. Some parts do get pretty busy with families and other hikers, but the trail never gets too crowded to run. As the sun was burning (30°C), it was a crucial to find enough water al day long. Some villages have a water fountain and there are also some restaurants, bakeries and shops along the course. Nevertheless I still had to ask some tourists (thank you!) if I could get a refill on a longer section without village crossings. While passing through Echternach after 70km, I stocked up water to tackle the final loop, which has quite a bit less charm than the first two parts.

The Mullertal trail is an absolute beauty for hikers and runners of all levels, easy to split in different sections or to be covered all at once.
