Report

On the 15th June 2024 I set off at 5:57am in the morning to start my second attempt for the Calderdale Way double. Which is two full laps of the Calderdale Way 50 miler route. I had a range of friends from different running clubs, join me for little sections of the route. Also I was able to have a support vehicles to meet me at points to supply food and water through the course as well as changes of clothing.

After my first attempt in January I was able to solve the problems and pull out all the negative and positive to be able to manage to complete it. I aimed to start off at a slow pace and got a lot of fuel in at the start, then kept fueling along the route, this allowed me to push through the route. Overall I enjoyed the experience and the overall route, it was definitely tough at times with the mixture of weather from sunny to thunder, lightning also with the stile climbing. However there was a few easier points where there was open moor land and down hills that allowed me to push the pace.

Crossing the final stretch, I had finished the Calderdale Way double, an endurance test shaped by lessons learned, strategy refined, and pure determination. The mix of terrain and weather pushed me, but each challenge strengthened my resolve. It wasn’t just about the miles covered; it was about the journey, marked by the support of friends, the grit to persist, and the satisfaction of overcoming. Now, with this chapter closed, the next challenge awaits.
