First of all, it's a beautiful route! I knew parts, but has been a long time ago, all very green, see photos.
This was my first FKT, so I read the website conditions well for Unsupported (and self-supported and supported). I noticed that Sam Jeffs has the record in 8h43, this was in March 2024 when it was really wet and muddy, flooded. I looked for an opportunity just after summer, it was dry last Monday when I decided to go today, since the temperature dropped from up to 30C last Saturday to 13-17C today. This made a big difference in the amount of water I need, 0.5L per hour, I carried 3.5L + food + phone, total 4.5kg trailrun vest for this 82km FKT. I looked on Brabantwater for public water taps, but they were not close enough to the route. I only stopped at 2/3 to get 2 bottles out of my backpack to refill the front side 2 bottles.
By the way, the bridge in Geldrop over the canal was closed for reconstruction (see photos) but I climbed over it, almost ruined my pants... I also had to climp over barb wire (electrified) somewhere near Nuenen that they put there recently.
Back in the railway station I used my OV card to open the gates to run from north to south side, where the start and official finish was. It's funny to realize that the crowd has no clue what I've just been through
