2nd FKT attempt ever. Did this one today as a mental health run/hike to try to hit reset on a tough week.
Gross conditions with super wet trails but the temperature was good. Didn't see the editor's note until after and did the bushwhack, oops! Hope that's okay. Otherwise only minor navigation mishaps thankfully, nothing that added too much time or distance thankfully.
If it hadn't been so wet I think a lot more of the terrain would have been runnable but I wanted to be careful not to slip on the rocky areas around the top or on all the roots. Definitely had to pause and wait at all the ski trail crossings as those trails were active today since Wachusett blows snow – there was no snow on the running trails and I only saw maybe three pieces of ice the whole day.
Overall I would come back to this area to hike again. Seemed like I covered a lot of the trails around the mountain but there were still some that I never took. More exploring to do on another day.
