Monday morning I took off from the Waterton  canyon trailhead, fully supported. I had pacers carrying all my stuff when possible and crew at relevant trailheads. The first 24 hours I ran 100 miles and got 2 hours of sleep. The trail started to become more difficult around Breckenridge with snow and downed trees. The altitude on Kokomo Pass also seemed to affect me. I was pretty set on taking Collegiate West route, and the fires around Twin Lakes mandated a reroute of some kind. Kind. We decided to follow the Leadville Trail route to Willis sculpts and back to the Colorado Trail to go over Hope Pass. There was plenty of snow on Lake Ann pass, but we were able to kick steps in on the left side and make it over. Also plenty of snow fields along collegiate West 3 section. The first of the nightly storms came on Sgts mesa. Plenty of hail and lightning every night after that. Snow Mesa was a notably difficult section. One of my pacers who ran over 130 mi of this route with me took me from Spring Creek Pass all the way to Stony Pass. From there it was terrain. I'm more familiar with living in Durango. Because of all the storms my feet were wet for much of the last 2 and 1/2 days. I finished on Sunday night a little before 11: 30 with a ruckus welcome home crowd at the junction Creek trailhead. I'm writing this from the emergency room because my ankles are pretty messed up. Great success!
