I started out at Fred Howard park on my paddleboard. It was initially an easy paddle, but waves and wind picked up as I got closer to Anclote. My garmin watch would not switch to running mode when I beached my paddle board, so the 9+ mile running section was tracked as a paddle activity, but it still tracked me and is accurate nonetheless. The run initially started out strong, but the sun and midday May heat took a toll on my body with my pace slowing significantly after 3 miles into the run. A nice breeze in my face helped cool me on the way back from the northern end of the island. On the paddle back, the water was quite rough heading out of anclote, particularly crossing the channel. The paddle got slightly easier as I got closer to Fred Howard. Given the conditions, I was happy with my time today, but I certainly could do better in winter with less boat traffic and heat.
