I started this route at 10am on April 16. The parking lot was empty when I arrived so I was pretty excited to be the only one out on the trail.
There were some pretty gigantic mud pits today, as well as a lot of leftover ice on the shady parts of the trail. Boardwalks were slippery with frost in some places.
But overall the trail is in great shape for mid-April!
When I got back to the parking lot it was nearly full--good day for a hike I guess!
I brought bear spray and a spot unit, but actually ended up having phone service most of the time. I didn't actually eat or drink anything even though I came prepared because it was over so quickly.
Definitely want to come back and go slower next time to really soak in the scenery. Such a perfect trail.
