Report

After exploring this trail in 2025, we decided to come back and try for the FKT! It was a rainy morning, and the weather report was constantly changing, but we decided to take our chances as we wanted to attempt this before the winter. We took the train up from NYC in the morning as the rain started coming down hard. The rain stopped right as we reached the trailhead, but that left the trail muddy and a little slippery for much of the way, which was less than ideal but still manageable. Otherwise, it was a lovely fall day with the foliage starting to change, and the trail was carpeted in brilliant colors. The day ended up being overcast with a slight breeze throughout- perfect running conditions. We carried packs with various gels, snacks, and water which we refilled a few times along the way using public fountains. It was surprisingly difficult to find fountains that were running! Not sure if they were already turned off for the season or if they just never work. The trail was very empty and we really only saw a few people during the run until we reached the Bronx. From there, the city pavement energized us, and the last 10 miles flew by and we counted down the blocks to Bryant Park. Navigation for this route is pretty straight forward and it's so fun to start up the Hudson and end in the heart of the city.
