I saw a reasonable weather window to give this route a shot. I've wanted to do it all summer, but just never pulled the trigger on it.
My goal was to beat the best current time on the route set by Matt Cymanski. I knew I wanted to go unsupported and keep the logistics simple.
I carried all of my supplies with me for the entire day, I brought a Kataydn Be Free bottle for filtering additional water on the mountains. I didn't stop at any gas stations, etc... once on Ellen, once on Camel's Hump, once on Mansfield.
I started at about 5:47am at the K1 Base station at Killington. I hard charged up the Gondola under a full moon and blowing cloud cover. The winds were harsh coming from the West. I topped out in 28 minutes and shot back down. Killington up and down in the dark.
All of my strava segments include whatever transition was AFTER the segment (ergo my Killington segment includes the first transition to bike).
Crosswinds kept me from really taking advantage of any of the long descents on the day.
