We did the trip unsupported: Carrying the food ourselves and filling up water from streams (using a filter). Fantastic (but hot) day out, and extra special to do this as a couple and go for the mixed-gender team FKT! :)
We started at the station in Ettelbruck (although there was construction going on there) and finished at the station in Kautenbach as the trail describes. For Lara it was her first ultra ever, so we started of very conservatively and kept the pace down, hiking most of the uphills. She had trained for a rough 14 weeks specifically for this trail. For me it was a long run in my training schedule for a 100K in the Alps, but a challenge nontheless! Because she was feeling great after 30 km still, we upped the pace a bit and were able to finish strong (and sweaty). Although we're neither the fastest male nor female, we are very happy to go out this strong as a couple, doing a lot of training in The Netherlands together and hope to inspire other mixed-gender teams to get out there and beat our time!
We made a lot of footage on an actioncamera, but I'm currently working on the edit of that, so the video will hopefully come along somewhere in the coming week(s). The photos added are made with my cellphone.
