I started this run at 11am and decided to do this FKT as I was looking for an interstate run to do outside of Florida and landed on flying into Pittsburgh. I also ran from Pittsburgh to the trail start at Walker's Mill (11.5 miles) which is the reason for the later start time. The route itself was pretty, but not the most exciting in terms of places to stop. I banked on Oakdale being more active and when I got there I ended up rushing around and not getting much in terms of food / supplies and found myself without water later on a pretty long stretch. This actually happened twice, that day. I did finally find water at the bike shop (Jack's) - the spicket was a little green, but I obviously didn't care at the time and I survived and appreciate it being out there in that stretch. The trail snackbar (paradise on the trail or something like that) was a much welcomed sight. The whole experience was a struggle to keep food down as I believe I caught something on the plane and was sick when I woke up, but the meatball sandwich gave me the calories I needed and a chance to charge my phone since my battery pack also was dead. Plus a nice conversation w the owners. Some light rain came in at the end and when I finished I was greeted with no ubers as I feared, I ended up staying with locals who I met when I couldn't get a signal. I am not recommending that practice, but it worked out in my case. Nice little journey run. Please also check my strava (Laura Bradley) for the route - it is not allowing me to include the link above. Thank you.
