Starting from Wicken Fen NNR at 5:30 am you soon move from a nice grassy track to river banks and rutted droves and with a head wind soon makes the run into a good challenge.
Once you leave the river banks behind crossing the bridge at the Great River Ouse you find yourself on trails and small villages which breaks the route up really well.
A few nice views towards the finish and then into Woodwalton Fen NNR and to Rothschilds fen house on stilts.
A memorable ending where my grandad took me and introduced me to conservation and butterflies and now myself running an iconic wetland site in the fens.
Once finished I hitchhiked to the nearest train station with some lovely people and a truly great day out.
Good route and will definitely do this again but not in a F5 SW headwind.
