Ground conditions were fast, but unforgiving. Lots of ankle twisting frozen ruts.
Started at Abbots Pool as that was the closest point in the route to Ashton court, where I left my bike. First 10km were steady, but a bit slower than I was hoping for, so I picked it up a bit for the next 10. The coast path was not as busy as I thought it would be - i only had to stop a handful of times to let walkers pass - so I made good time there. The final section was the hilliest, but I had enough in the tank to really push on them. The only remaining obstacle was the 40mph winds on the open fields around Noah’s Ark, but by this stage I could almost smell the finish.
Overall, really pleased with how I felt on the day and my pacing. Felt strong pretty much all the way to the end.
